Professor Vuong Quan Hoang is Distinguished Scientist at Hanoi-based Phenikaa University, the No. 1-ranked Vietnamese research university in Nature Index during 2021-22. Prof. Vuong is in the Stanford list of the world's top-cited scholars, according to the Scopus database. He earned his Ph.D. from Universite Libre de Bruxelles (2003-2004 academic year) under Professors André Farber and Ariane Szafarz. He has been CEBRIG's senior research fellow since 2003 and has served at the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics since 2020. In 2019, he founded the Vietnam Regional Chapter of the European Association of Science Editors and served as its Founding Chair during 2019-2022. Since 2019, Prof. Vuong Quan Hoang has served as a member of the Scientific Council of the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development, part of the government of Vietnam, and managed by the Vietnam Ministry of Science and Technology.
At Phenikaa University, he founded the Centre for Interdisciplinary Social Research in 2017 and has since been its director. In 2020, he was awarded the title of Distinguished Scientist by the university's Chairman. Prof. Vuong has published over 200 journal articles, book chapters and books with such publishers as Nature Publishing Group, Oxford University Press, MIT Press, Elsevier, Springer, Wiley,... and served on the editorial boards of a dozen of peer-reviewed journals.
Prof. Vuong has been a co-author with Vietnam's current Prime Minister, Prof. Pham Minh Chinh, in the 2009 book: Kinh tế Việt Nam: Thăng trầm và đột phá, published by the National Political Publishing House, one of the most-read economic history titles in Vietnam.
