The LABour Economics Lab (LABEL) specializes in the area labour economics & industrial relations, in particular the analysis of matched employer-employee panel data to uncover the determinants of productivity, earnings (wage costs) and cost-competitiveness.
LABEL also conducts research on labour market institutions (e.g., trade unions, minimum wages, labour market protection legislation); educational and skills mismatches; migration; discrimination; workforce diversity, HRM practices and firm performance; ageing and employability; global value chains and offshoring; sickness absenteeism; firm credit constraints and employment; and household over-indebtedness.
LABEL has advised various organizations including the Central Economic Council, the European Central Bank, Eurofound, the European Commission, the European Trade Union Institute, the King Baudouin Foundation, the Fondation Bernheim, IWEPS, the National Bank of Belgium, and the OECD.
